Samsung mobile unveils S20 FE as the final version of the Samsung Galaxy S20 series launched in 2020. It is designed to offer the fans a slightly lower price point for the phone series. Hence, the name Samsung Galaxy S20 FE (Fan Edition) to try and attract those who don’t want to spend much on smartphones.

DESIGN
At first glance, the Samsung Galaxy S20 FE doesn’t look or feel cheap. It sports a premium captivating design using a polycarbonate (plastic) material at the back instead of glass. On the front, instead of the Gorilla Glass 6, Samsung opts for an unspecified type of glass. It’s got a satin finish, and it’s about as slippery as they come. It also helps keep the (190 grams) weight in check. The side frame is still metal and thus durable. This Samsung Galaxy S20 FE measures an overall dimension of 159.8 x 74.5 x 8.4 mm.
The Fan Edition has thicker bezels all around it with a tiny punch hole. It has a plastic up and down volume rocker and a power button on the right edge in a slightly enlarged portion of the otherwise slender aluminum outline, while nothing is spoiling the minimalist left side. The bottom is home to the USB-C port, the main loudspeaker, and the primary mic.
At the back, Samsung beautifully arranged a triple camera lens as well as the LED flash with a glass-covered by aluminum frame to protect the sensor from scratches.
DISPLAY
The Samsung Galaxy S20 FE display has a diagonal of a 6.5-inch screen, with an AMOLED panel type and a refresh rate of 120 Hz, with the option of 60 Hz for lower power consumption. This S20 FE display makes do with a Full HD+ screen with 2400 x 1800 pixels resulting in 393ppi pixel density and a 20:9 aspect ratio.

CAMERA
The Samsung Galaxy S20 FE has three rear cameras: standard, ultra-wide, and 3x telephoto with 30X Super Zoom. By dropping a sensor Samsung reduced cost without making a big difference.
There is a 12MP f/1.8 wide main sensor, a 12MP f/2.2 ultra-wide, and an 8MP f/2.4 telephoto lens on the rear. The telephoto camera isn’t a 64MP sensor as on the S20 series. The telephoto lens offers Samsung’s 30x Space Zoom, wanting to keep up with the other S20 models. With a wide f/1.8 aperture, 1.8-micron pixels, and dual-pixel technology the primary camera manages to capture a good amount of light which results in great details.
The main camera has the same great high dynamic range (HDR) treatment, meaning photos really have some pop and balance to them. There’s also an experimental HDR10+ video capture mode, although that’s only available up to 4K/30fps.
On the front, the Fan Edition gets a 32MP Quad Bayer sensor for selfies, instead of the conventional 10MP unit on the S20 and S20+. This one has the same f/2.2 aperture and 25mm focal length equivalent, but there’s one notable downgrade – autofocus is missing. Furthermore, the front camera has a regular and ultra-wide mode and it also managed to capture some impressive selfies. With tetra cell binning, Samsung manages to capture more light for better details and dynamic range.
PERFORMANCE
The S20 FE is available in two versions – 4G and 5G. These differ from each other by the processor used. The 4G (LTE) version will be available with the Exynos 990 processor, while the 5G version will get the slightly more powerful Snapdragon 865. The RAM size is the same as 6 GB or 8 GB. Galaxy S20 FE internal storage has a capacity of 128 GB or 256 GB and can be expanded with a microSD card with a capacity of up to 1 TB. The memory card slot is shared with another SIM card. So you have to choose between dual-SIM mode and additional storage, because the S20 FE does not support eSIM.
Furthermore, the S20 FE runs on Android 10 on top of the OneUI 2.5 interface which is the same as on the other Galaxy phones. It has almost all the features that we can find on any Android-based platform. The Galaxy S20 FE has Samsung Knox protection onboard which gives defense-grade security assurance. Thanks to MST and NFC sensors, the phone supports full Samsung Pay. Samsung also bundles Dex Wireless support.
The always-on display is, of course, available, and it can be shown all the time, according to a daily schedule, or when summoned with a tap. Samsung also uses the optical fingerprint sensor which is more reliable than the ultrasonic ones for security and easy accessibility for users.
