The Oneplus 6 has finally been officially revealed after the long wait. The flagship device was introduced at an event in London. This Chinese made device is known for selling phones with high-end specifications for affordable prices. That includes good design, impressive build quality, clean Android software and more.
The Oneplus 6 which is their latest phone was launched on May 16, not as just another phone but has a phone worth of recognition and accolade. The Glassy and notched design give the device a new look compared to its predecessor.
Design And Design
The most obvious difference between the OnePlus 6 and its predecessor the OnePlus 5T is design. The Oneplus adopted some of the 2018 trending android features which include an edge-to-edge screen, the screen is the biggest screen OnePlus has ever put on a phone. The device also sports an all-glass design for the first time, replacing last year’s curved aluminium with various finishes of curved glass, though the company have previously used sandstone material, ceramic, and metal, this glass body is a new change to the company coupled with Gorilla Glass 5 protection.
The front shows off a 6.28in 19:9 Optic AMOLED display with a 19:9 OLED aspect ratio and also it is the first phone from the firm to feature a notch at the top of the display. The notch became a trend after Apple used it in the iPhone X, but Apple wasn’t the first company to employ this design style. It’s now a common feature on many Android phones, such as the Huawei P20 Pro and the LG G7 ThinQ. If you’re not a fan of the notch, you will be able to hide it through the software in a later update.
This AMOLED screen device comes with a resolution of 2,280 x 1,080 pixels. It’s a solid resolution for a phone in this price range, the pixel measures up to 402PPI per pixel display. it also measures a dimension of 155.7 x 75.4 x 7.75mm and tips the scales at 177g.
Software and Hardware
OnePlus focused also for the Oneplus 6 is on speed. The OnePlus 6 comes kitted out with Snapdragon’s latest-and-greatest Snapdragon 845 CPU, paired with an Adreno 630 GPU and a hefty 8GB RAM. The firm is promising a 30 percent boost in performance compared to its last-gen release which results in up to 10 percent improved battery efficiency, despite the handset’s souped-up, power-slurping display.
Camera and Battery
The OnePlus 6 comes with dual rear cameras, the main camera is 16MP and the secondary snapper is 20MP. Both sensors are made by Sony and feature both OIS and EIS. OnePlus has increased the size of the 16MP sensor by 19% (vs 5T), allowing more light in, and reducing the level of noise in low light shots. The camera can now shot up to a minute of slow-motion footage at a time, at 480fps in a 720p resolution. The new dual camera system with optical image stabilisation hopes to keep pace with rivals, placed vertically on the back and offering better low-light shots.
The “optimal” positioning of the device has enabled OnePlus to re-introduce OIS, which was last seen on the OnePlus 3T, and to make the main 16MP sensor 19 percent larger than before. The secondary 20MP lens remains unchanged, but the front-facing 16MP camera has been upgraded to support OnePlus’ new ‘Portrait Mode’ feature. Below the camera is a rear oval-shaped fingerprint scanner.
The battery size remains the same as the OnePlus 5 and 5T though, at 3,300mAh. Though with the design of this device a wireless charger was expected to follow up the trends behind the glass designed device, what we got is the Dash Charge, giving the OnePlus 6 ‘a day’s power in half an hour.’
The Oneplus 6 arrives running Android 8 Oreo (with Oxygen OS 5.1 on top), but for the more adventurous among you, the OnePlus 6 also supports the new Android P Beta from Google which is yet to be available but has been announced. The Android 8.0 features gesture controls, Face Unlock support and a new version of OnePlus’ Gaming Mode that promises faster app loading times brings with it a new data prioritisation feature.
There are other additional features which are embedded in the Oneplus 6this includes the Face Unlock, you can use the front-facing camera to unlock the phone, or you can opt for the fingerprint sensor on the back.
