The Huawei MateBook X Pro is a 13.9-inch LTPS panel laptop with a resolution of 3000 x 2000 pixels. The MateBook X Pro features a 91% screen-to-body ratio on an ultrathin bezel for a top-notch views, display that’s nearly all screen, providing you with an immersive viewing experience. for top-notch views. And at just a half-inch thin, it easily goes wherever you do.Compared to the MateBook X Pro i5, the display quality has improved even more. The average brightness is now 512 cd/m² and the brightness distribution is more balanced at 88%. The touchscreen responds quickly to inputs and does not show fingerprints immediately thanks to its oil-resistant surface. The Huawei MateBook X Pro has a very good contrast ratio of 1719:1 and a slightly elevated black value of 0.32 cd/m².
Performance and Battery
Matebook pro is equipped with an Intel Core i7-8550U processor, an Nvidia GeForce MX150, 8 GB of RAM and a 512-GB SSD. Alternatively, the Huawei MateBook X Pro is also available with a Core i5-8250U and 16 instead of 8 GB of RAM. The Intel’s Core i7-8550U is a quad-core processor that can be considered a direct successor of the Core i7-7500U. This model is more energy efficient and offers higher clock rates that can theoretically reach up to 4 GHz. In our test unit, the maximum clock rate was 3.4 GHz with a TDP of 13 watts. With a performance boost of 40 percent generation over generation, 8th Gen Intel Core processors deliver the power and responsiveness to make your productivity soar. Edit photos and videos faster than ever, and move between programs and windows quickly.
The Battery life is estimated to be 12-15 hours depending on your usage and I will say it holds up to that. Also varies on how high you have the brightness on the display of course.
Keyboard
The broad keys provide a spacious landing pad for your fingers, and the resistance helps cushion your fingers. iT also comes with an excellent fingerprint reader, which is integrated with the power button. With the Fingerprint readers you have the advantage of usually being fast and accurate, and the Matebook X Pro’s Windows Hello-compatible reader follows suit. The backlight controls toggle through “high,” “low,” and “off” settings. There’s also a dedicated key for the Huawei PC Manager software, which generally replaces the Windows Settings menu.
The camera placement of the laptop is somehow odd, it comes with a front-facing camera that emerges from the top row of function keys. It’s only 1MP in resolution, but its real purpose is to protect your privacy. The spring-loaded camera will pop out of its hidey-hole only with a physical touch. Same as the camera the mic too is hidden, that the mic may record audio, and you might never notice because the microphone’s indicator light is hidden from view along with the camera.
Ports / MateDock 2
The MateBook X Pro’s connectivity is surprisingly good. On its left side sits a pair of USB-C ports, one with the high-speed Thunderbolt interface (USB 3.1 Gen 2), the other with just a conventional USB 3.1 Gen 1. On the right side, the Matebook X Pro squeezes in a single USB-A port.
The thunderbolt 3 is a hardware interface that utilizes the reversible USB Type-C connector. Doubling the speed of its predecessor, Thunderbolt 3 features a maximum throughput of 40 Gb/s when used with compatible devices. The connector also transmits data via USB 3.1 at up to 10 Gb/s, and dual-bandwidth DisplayPort 1.2 allows you to connect up to two 4K displays simultaneously. Additionally, you can daisy chain up to six devices from a single Thunderbolt 3 port.
