Tecno Spark 5 Review

The Nigerian Transsions Holding company unveiled this fifth spark series “Tecno Spark 5” devices alongside its Pro version, the Spark 5 Pro, and the smaller version Tecno Spark 5 Air into Nigeria market o conquer the entry level market.

Design

The Tecno Spark 5 sports a similar design to the company’s flagship Camon 15 design. It is beautifully structured with sleek, shining, glossy and most of all slim finishing, made of an aluminum frame and back with glass front. Hence we have a premium-looking device. This device is a smooth and Curvy on the edges and measures a dimension of 164.7 x 76.3 x 8.8 mm with 3D body radian provide comfortable hand hold.

On the rear, this smartphone features a quad-camera setup with quad-LED flash. Right beside the camera setup lies also the fingerprint sensor alongside Tecno branding, perfectly inscribed.

In addition, Tecno Spark 5 front is a sight to behold. Its almost bezel-less screen gives no room for the front camera to reside, hence the use of the typical dot-notch design seen on the last year model. At the left hand side sits the punch hole which perfectly accommodate the front camera shutter.

Display

The Tecno Spark 5 comes equipped with a bezel-less a 6.6-inch IPS LCD display to offer a truly immersive, wider and brighter visual experience. This  IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen display sports a resolution of 720 x 1600 pixels, resulting in 266 PPI per density.

Tecno Spark 5 also comes with a 20:9 aspect ratio and 90.2% perfect screen ratio which contribute to a more wonderful and much broader full view experience. This device produces display color up to 16 million which gives the device a colorful, clearer, more immersive viewing experience from watching videos to playing games. 

Above all, in terms of brightness, this device comes with up to 480 nits which means you can use your phone even in bright sunlight. 

Camera

Tecno spark 4 is equipped with a quad rear camera shooter. The 13MP main camera which is built on a brand-new algorithm AI Camera 3.0 comes with F/1.8 big aperture which enables highly clear and more natural photos whether it is daytime or night. It is backed by 2MP macro lens, 2MP depth lens for AI bokeh effect which has been fully upgraded, to give portraits better focus in the whole picture along with processing details carefully and a QVGA camera.

This setup is capable of shooting 720p and 1080p videos at 1080p. You also have a quad-LED flash, HDR and Panorama mode for photos.

For the front camera, in the hole sits a 8MP Al selfie camera which the company says its always ready to capture your glamorous moments. The camera also comes with a dual front flash and Portrait HDR which makes capturing of brighter and charming selfie in a low light scenario easier. The front camera has a fully developed facial algorithm to help in saving your time for retouches, offering a smoother and funnier selfie experience.

This camera also serves as a face unlock sensor to improve the phone privacy and security.  It comes with the newly added “Closed-Eyes Detection”on 2.0 version, hence, your phone cannot be unlocked when you are sleeping or closing your eyes.

Performance

On the inside, Tecno Spark 5 is powered by Quad-Core MediaTek Helio A22 processor built on a 12 nm architecture sporting a 32-bit 2.0GHz Octa-core powerful CPU. The chipset is paired with a PowerVR GE8320 GPU chip and offer a 2GB RAM options with 32GB internal storage options which can be expanded up to 128GB via microsd card.

In terms of software, the Spark 4 runs on Google Android 10.0 which is the latest OS version with users convenience in mind. The OS is backed up by TECNO’s latest HiOS 6.1 user interface. The interface features the AI Video Chat Beauty Mode which would make you shine in the video chat, adding more fun when chatting with friends.

It also comes with deeply customized optimization of Game Mode which assures better gaming experience. Free space, game boost, network acceleration, notification optimization and more new functions contribute to a much faster and more immersive user experience.

Battery

To support the power system performance, Tecno Spark 5 has a powerful 5,000 mAh non-removable Li-Ion battery, hence, it can get through the day without needing a charge. According to the company the battery can last 344 hours of standby time, 14 hours of calling, 8 hours of camera, 16 hours of music and 14 hours of video playback and web browsing.
