According to the South Koreans, the fitness tracker is particularly aimed at “active users” who “want to record their sports activities”. The activities are automatically detected as soon as one has been active for more than 10 minutes. Cycling or running are two of the six typical sports that the Galaxy Fit 2 can automatically detect.
Samsung has updated its fitness tracker range with the Samsung Galaxy Fit 2 packed features. This tracker unlike the Samsung Galaxy Watch 3 smartwatch, this fitness tracker is a budget device to take up competitors like Fitbit Inspire 2, e Xiaomi Mi Band 5, and more.
Like its predecessor, the Galaxy Fit 2 has a rectangular AMOLED touch screen enclosed in a silicone band, but this time the body is housed inside the silicone band rather than framed in metal. It also lacks the physical button on the side and has replaced it with a virtual button on the front below the screen. And there are more ways to customize it. Samsung has added 70 different watch face options to choose from for the Fit 2 to let you customize your style, and battery life that stretches to 15 days as standard, or 21 days on some more economical settings.
As it is made up of plastic, the overall weight of the unit comes down to 21g only and provides IP68 waterproofing, and thanks to the groove design of the Samsung Galaxy Fit 2 helps reduced sweating. It also has a 159mAh battery placed inside, according to the company this battery can serve around 15 days of backup in one single charge.
It provides advanced tracking features as it’s capable of automatically detecting and tracking up to five different types of activity. The insights that it can provide include calories burned, heart rate, distance, and more. The AMOLED touch screen is also possible to reply to messages, SMS, or emails received on a smartphone connected via Bluetooth.
The Fit2 automatically detects exercise and boasts 24/7 heart rate monitoring. It notices when your heart rate peaks, and from there it will tell you to take some time to monitor your stress, and even recommend breathing exercises for you to undertake.
This tracker also has the Sleep tracking feature which allows the Samsung Galaxy Fit 2 to provide a daily analysis of your sleep, gives a breakdown of the different stages in the Samsung Health app, and also provides a unique Sleep Score.
The Samsung Galaxy Fit 2 is IP68 certified and can therefore also be used when swimming and compatible with Android handsets running version 5.0 or later with 1.5GB of RAM and iPhone 7 or later models running iOS 10.0 and up.
Samsung’s new Galaxy Fit 2 will be available in the colors black and red from October 2nd, 2020 in Europe for less than €100 equivalent to ₦35,000 in Nigeria.
