Since its debut in 2016, the Razer Blade Stealth has been one of the best ultraportable laptops on the market, a thin, well-designed machine. The Blade stealth combines high-end performance with slim portable design. The 2016 version boost a 12.5-inch notebook, which was later expanded to 13.3 inches in 2017.
Fast forward to 2019, the Razer Blade Stealth storm the market again with its superb ultrabook design, spotting a smaller, lighter body and the option for a beautiful color-calibrated 4K UHD display and discrete graphics.
The 2019 Blade Stealth is the smallest laptop in the Razer’s lineup, embeded with even more features than past versions with superior display, great battery life, and a robust feature set that includes those 3D chops.
The design
Milled from high-grade aluminum, this 13.3-inch ultraportable laptop has an elegant, streamlined chassiscouled with a thinner bezels around the display which helped shrink its overall footprint and further clean up its appearance. This laptop weighs just 2.89 pounds, compared to the 4+ pounds of Razer’s other laptops.
The Display
The Blade Stealth 13 (2019) has a glorious 13.3-inch Full HD matte display. The Stealth is available with either a 1080p non-touch display or a 4K touchscreen. With 97.1% coverage of the sRGB colour gamut, the Blade Stealth offers an almost-perfect range of colours. The Laptop features a moderately bright panel that tops out at around 454 nits and also included an anti-glare coating (on a matte display) that does a decent job of avoiding indoor light, but direct sunlight can still make it tricky to view perfectly.
Contrast is also above average with a ratio of 1392:1, helping detail look deliciously sharp. Black levels are admittedly ho hum at 0.3221 though, with the display struggling to show those deep blacks in dark scenes. The screen supports 100 percent of the sRGB gamut but just around 61 percent of Adobe RGB.
The Ports
The Stealth has a better port selection than other ultrabooks. On the left, there is an audio jack, USB 3.0, and a Thunderbolt 3 USB-C port (with four PCI Express lanes). On the right-hand side, sits one USB-C 3.1 and a another USB 3.0 port. Only one of the two USB-C ports supports Thunderbolt 3, but both are capable of charging the Stealth’s battery.
The Keyboard
The Razer Blade Stealth inherits its keyboard design straight from the Razer Blade, it still affords a comfortable typing experience, with 16.8 million colors of Chroma RGB backlighting, though it’s single-zone not per-key. The keys are a little small but well arranged, the power button is located at the top right corner, right next to the delete key. Using the Razer Synapse app, it’s simple to get in and start customizing the lights to match your mood or current activity.
The new glass-topped touchpad is larger than before, and it has Microsoft Precision support for smooth scrolling and gesture capability. The trackpad is expansive, accurate and responsive just like Razer’s other trackpads
The Razer Blade Stealth also features a decent set of speakers. Thanks to their location on the keyboard deck, audio is crisp and loud. They don’t feature an extensive bass profile, but they’re a better set than most of competitors outside of MacBooks.
One of the best upgrade in the laptop is new webcam that comes with Windows Hello facial recognition as a standard feature. You’ll no longer need to type out a long password or PIN to get into the Blade. It had no issues recognizing me in different lighting situations, like with my glasses on / off or at different angles. I used it almost exclusively as a reliable login authentication method.
The Performance
The Razer Blade Stealth 13 (2019) offers one of the best performances out of any ultrabook this size. When it comes to the performance of the Razor Blade Stealth 2019, there is the offer of three models.
The cheapest has a Full HD display, but offers a meek Intel UHD Graphics 620 graphics card and an 8GB RAM. The second model shares the same 13.3-inch Full HD display you find with the cheaper sibling, but you also get a Nvidia GeForce MX150 graphics card for extra muscle in video rendering and gaming, while, the last highest and most expensive version has similar spec to the second laptop with a 4K touchscreen display as the only differences between them.
The Battery
The Razer Blade Stealth 13 (2019) Battery life has improved quite a bit over the years, from 4 hours, 10 minutes in 2016 to 5 hours, 25 minutes in 2017 to 7 hours, 30 minutes today
At first glance, the Razer Blade Stealth is a dream-come-true laptop. It shows a couple of hours of improvement over its past self and worth the price been sold at.
