Nokia Mobile India has posted a cryptic tweet from its official Twitter handle that reads, “The picture’s about to get rosy with an epic viewing experience. Get ready to #ExpectMore.” The video shows a red background with roses and reveals the silhouette of a smartphone with a display notch. The clip hints at the launch of a phone in India, which will be the global version of Nokia X7, that was earlier launched in China. The visuals suggest that the phone could be Nokia 8.1, though that remains speculative.
The Nokia 8.1 is expected to debut at HMD Global’s December 5 event, however, if there is any truth to the leaks then we have an idea of what to expect at the Event.
The handset according to the leak features a 6.18-inch full-HD+ display backed by PureDisplay technology with an 18.7:9 aspect ratio and an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 SoC paired with 4GB RAM, and support Google ARCore, the augmented reality (AR) platform of Android. It also has a dual rear camera setup 13MP + 12MP sensors with LED flash on the rear and a 20-megapixel selfie camera shooter with an f/2.0 aperture. The hint towards the display showing sharper pictures and more contrast with HDR10 support.
The smartphone is also said to feature Android Oreo and gets a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor for security. The smartphone relies on a 3,500mAh battery with 18W fast charging for power requirements. As for connectivity, the Nokia 8.1 offers 4G VoLTE, dual-SIM slots, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GPS with GLONASS, USB Type-C, and 3.5mm earphone jack.
The Nokia 8.1 is expected to be officially introduced by parent company HMD Global in the year ending, so we have to sit tight to enjoy the alluring device when unveiled. The teased spec and images might not be the real thing.
