Microsoft’s second-generation Surface Laptop 2 has emerged sporting Intel’s latest 8th-gen processors. Sporting a 13.5-inch Pixel Sense display and the same port selection, the exterior goes mostly unchanged besides minor refinements to the keyboard and the addition of a new sleek black exterior finish with matching keyboard fabric.

This is an Apple-level device with Windows 10, an operating system with users interest at heart. It’s thin and light, just like you expect from a MacBook, but even beats Apple at some new features.

In the body built department the Surface Laptop 2 is very much the same computer as the first Surface Laptop, every major updates made on the laptop are internals.

Surface Laptop 2 is a thin, lightweight laptop with elegant, on-the-go style fits easily in your bag at just 2.76 lb. It’s still a sleek, but not too sleek; light, but not too light; well-made, but not flawless laptop that’s easy to carry around, easy to use on a lap, and easy to look at for hours at a time.  The Laptop 2’s trackpad is glass-covered, very slick, and very comfortable to use. It registers multitouch gestures without issue, and although it’s not as spacious as the gargantuan trackpads on the MacBook Pro line, it’s still plenty large.

Obviously, all of the Surface Laptop hallmarks have carried over: an aluminum finish, Alcantara fabric on the keyboard deck, a 3:2 aspect ratio touchscreen display, and a Windows Hello IR camera for hands-free logins like recognizing face and unlock the computer in a split second when the lid is opened.  The Window Hello also comes with a biometric authentication which provides enterprise-grade security. Protect data and allow IT to control user access with BitLocker and Surface TPM chips.

The keyboard itself is probably the Surface Laptop 2’s most substantial external change, beyond the new color option, with what Microsoft is claiming as a faster and quieter typing experience. The previous generation Surface Laptop’s keyboard wasn’t necessarily overpowering, but providing a more silent solution is excellent for students and other professionals working in a quiet environment.

The Surface 2 battery is pretty good with a Surface Connector for charging and docking, a single USB-A port, a Mini Display Port, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.

The main changes found in the Surface Laptop 2 are all under the hood. Microsoft has upgraded the processor options from dual-core 7th Gen Intel chips to quad-core 8th Gen versions. The base models come with a Core i5-8250U processor, but you can upgrade to a Core i7-8650U with additional $1,599 (₦ 60,000) or more.

The Laptop also features many more alluring features which includes Dropbox, with which it’s easy to collaborate, stay organized, and focus on the work that matters. It helps keep control of important information and user activity without limits while you.
