LG G8X thinQ comes with dual screen accessory to compete foldable smartphone. LG has a different approach to the dual screen craze, hence, opting for a detachable solution. Folding smartphone displays are theoretically a cool feature. But as the Samsung Galaxy Fold has demonstrated, it’s a risky gambit. Likewise, the price might be beyond your price range.

LG Electronics (LG) has unveiled the LG G8XThinQ, its newest G series smartphone. This phone and the advanced LG Dual Screen device was announced at IFA 2019 in Berlin. Both the LG G8XThinQ and LG Dual Screen are designed to create a whole new way to multitask, enjoy content and socialize on mobile.

The LG G8X, as its name suggests, is a slightly modified version of its 2019 flagship, the LG G8 ThinQ. It comes with some major updates such as addition of an in-display fingerprint sensor and an upgraded selfie lens.

The real selling point of the G8X, though, is the innovative second display. Although, the G8X thinQ dual-screen attachment is similar to the one LG showed off at MWC 2019 on the V50 ThinQ. LG said the dual screen detachable is the introduction of a new level of on-the-go multitasking excellence.

It comes with curved edges which makes room for a comfortable grip. On the front is a 6.4-inch OLED screen with a small teardrop notch at the top. It also supports HDR10 and resolution of 1080 x 2340 pixels, which results to 403 PPI per density. The LG G8X also comes with Always-on display.

Unlike, the LG G8 Thinq and the LG V50 dual screen phone, LG G8X thinQ comes with a thinner bezel at the bottom and almost none at the top. The U-shaped teardrop accomodates the front camera, hence, the 83.3% screen-to-body ratio.

LG G8X sports a full screen display with an aspect ratio of 19.5:9 which allows for smooth multitasking even without the dual screen. The display is protected by the latest Gorilla Glass 6 by Corning which is the most shatter-resistant glass in the smartphone world.

The top is where the noise-canceling microphone lies while the bottom is populated by the main microphone, the 3.5mm audio jack, the USB-C connector, and the speaker grille. The SIM card/microSD card tray has moved, however, from the top to the right side.

LG G8X ThinQ Dual Screen

The Dual Screen offers some novel uses and handy features. This extral screen is housed in a wraparound smartphone cover, hence the name Cover Display. The second display is positioned in the left side of the cover with a phone-shaped space on the right side to accommodate the Lg G8X phone.

It comes with a 6.4-inch OLED screen that’s the same size and specification as the main G8X ThinQ screen. The dual screen also comes with a 2.1-inche screen at the front which allows to to access the time and notification icons without opening the Dual Screen.  The Cover display has a 360-degree hinge called the Freestop hinge, hence, it can be use in any position.

The two devices (Dual screen and G8x ThinQ) functionality as been redefined. To use the Dual screen smartphone the second screen is now attached through USB-C. After slipping the phone into the awaiting space in the dual screen pouch and positioned correctly, the phone connects to a USB Type-C input at the bottom of the cover and snaps into place. The two devices are easy to connect and disconnected when not needed.

The G8X ThinQ Dual screen smartphone produces the same viewing experience with not one but two 6.4-inch, 2340 x 1080 OLED displays, giving you the tablet experience. The G8X comes with 4000mAh battery however, when using with the dual screen it might seems like a 3000 battery. Although, LG claims the Cover Display only consumes 20% to 30% more charge when it’s enabled, that still means faster battery drain. However, the quick charge feature should be able to combat the challenge.

Conclusively, the LG G8X ThinQ Dual Screen smartphone combines power and functionality, hence, multitasking feels natural, and a beautiful screen to behold.
