Huawei has announced the Nova 4 smartphone after weeks of teasing the most striking feature: the circular “hole-punch” cut for the 25-megapixel selfie camera. Although, Samsung beat Huawei with the punch by announcing its own Galaxy A8s last week, which features this captivating trending feature. However, Huawei’s phone seems to have a smaller hole for the camera.
Samsung and Huawei are not the only brand with interest in developing phones with this trending feature. The Honor which is Huawei sub-brand also teased the punch-hole in its Honor View 20 which is expected to go official in China on December 26.
The Nova 4 is almost identical to the Honor View20. It gets a similar circular piercing on the top left side of the display. This allows the phone to offer over 91 per cent screen-to-body ratio. It packs a 6.3-inch FHD+ curved glass full-screen display with a 4.5mm hole to house the 3.05mm small front camera, 0.85mm micro-seam earpiece on the edge. The punch-hole also removes the need for a notch on top of the display. Nova 4 also comes with 2310 x 1080 display resolution and a IPS LCD display type.
The Huawei Nova sports a glass back which accommodates the fingerprint reader and a vertically arranged triple camera setup and the frontside which has mainly the screen making the device feature a slim bezels sitting perfectly on the palm and weighing as heavy as a feather.

The Huawei Nova 4 comes with a triple rear cameras which includes a 48MP primary sensor with f/1.8 aperture, a 16MP wide-angle sensor with f/2.2 aperture and a 2MP sensor for depth of field support.
Huawei announced that there will be a cheaper version of the Nova 4 that will offer a 20MP primary sensor instead of a 48MP sensor. The rest of the cameras remain the same. The cheaper variant has been priced at CNY 3,099 (approx Rs 32,150), while the top-end 48MP version will cost CNY 3,399 (approx Rs 35,200). As of now, the phone has been launched in China, and it will be launched globally today.
The Nova 4 is powered by the Kirin 970 processor found in the View 10 and Huawei P20 Pro. It has a storage capacity of 8 GB of RAM, 128 GB of storage, and a microSD card slot for more space. It will ship with EMUI 9.0.1 based on Android 9 Pie and houses a powerful 3,750mAh battery and supports 18W fast charging over USB Type-C.
