“Clips” Apple’s New Fast Video Editing App
Clips a social video editing app was launched in April 6 2017 as announced by Apple’s late last month to launch its new social video editing app Clips sometime in April.
According to Apple’s description of the Clips app it says:
“Clips is a new app for making fun videos to share with friends, family, and the world. With a few taps you can create and send a video message or tell a quick story with animated text, graphics and emoji, music, and more.
Videos made easy • Clips lets you create videos in real time using simple controls — no timeline, tracks, or complicated editing tools• Shoot live video and photos or add them from your library • Easily mute audio, adjust the length of your clips, and reorder them • Clips looks and works great on iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch
Live Titles • Create animated titles and captions using just your voice • Captions are generated automatically as you speak and match the timing of your voiceover • Mix and match different styles throughout your video • Tap your title to adjust text and punctuation or add inline emoji
Fun effects • Give your photos and video clips a comic book look with color and black & white filters• Drop in animated speech bubbles, arrows, and banners • Add emoji on top of any photo or video clip • Use full-screen posters with animated backgrounds and customizable text to help tell your story • Drag and pinch while recording to add smooth pan and zoom animations to your photos and videos • Add a music track from your library or use built-in soundtracks that automatically adjust to the length of your video
Smart sharing • Clips suggests people to share with based on who is in your video and whom you share with most often • Tap a person in the share sheet to instantly send your video via Messages • Send directly to Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, and other popular social media sites
Clips is a camera app with some base-level post-processing built in. This video editing app helps produces square videos that can be easily shared on social media services like Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter, and built-in effects like annotation including automatic transcription.
Clips lets you record within the app or import media from your photo library with putting together and editing like a streamlined iMovie, and stylized effects make trendy videos that social networks are promoting natively.
Just as the name connotes Clips, lets you combine several video clips, images, and photos with voice-based titles, music, filters, and graphics to create enhanced videos that are up to an hour in length.
Apple also added another sensation to clips based on its voice dictation and image recognition technologies to further set itself apart from rival apps. A feature called Live Titles, for instance, makes it possible to dictate captions while recording a clip. The app automatically ensures that these captions align with what’s happening on screen so that words appear in sync with the creator’s voiceover.
Adding music to video is so straightforward on clip. The app comes with a few dozen music beds that really run the emotional gamut. Rather than cutting off the song when a video is finished, the app will adjust the song’s duration so that the entire track plays despite the length of the clip.
After editing and every finishing touches has been made the videos can be shared on any platform that can handle the MPEG format, and, by default, it features share buttons for Instagram, Facebook, Vimeo and YouTube and messages. With contacts prioritized by frequently contacted, along with contextual information grabbed from the video, like names in the text and recognition of the persons on the picture using facial recognition technology.
Apple however, isn’t trying to compete with the likes of Snapchat, or Instagram or Facebook Stories with Clips instead just having fun with video messaging However, in a way Apple has again renounced the responsibility of being a social network while also encouraging a kind of network-exclusive interaction. Just like the blue bubbles of iMessage will give you away, so will some of the features of this app.
Though some features are lacking in this earliest-stage version of the app. This sort of Messages sharing functionality is new for Apple, but you can likely expect the subsequent versions to be more upgraded with more tantalizing function in the near future.
