Facebook Messengers App To Stop Working On Phone Running On Window 8.1
“Thank you for choosing to use Messenger,” the email reads.
“We regret to inform you that since the end of March, the app version you’re using is no longer supported and you cannot send and receive messages.
“To continue to send and receive messages from Facebook on your phone, update your Facebook app to the latest version.”
This was the email sent out to Facebook Messenger users informing them on the need to upgrade their smartphones to a higher window version (window 10) and update to the latest Facebook messenger apps because starting April 1 devices powered by Windows Phone 8.1 or earlier will not be able to use the apps.
However in order to defend their decision for the sudden end of support for older versions of the app, the company said on its blog, “Our team spends countless hours making it the best way to message your friends and family. One of the ways we continue to improve is by consistently introducing rich features, like voice and video calling, games, and bots for Messenger. The good and bad news is Windows Phone 8.1 users will still have access to Facebook through their browser, but won’t be able to message their friends without Messenger.
