MTN Nigeria has discontinued support for Blackberry phones. This is coming few days after Whatsapp stopped supporting Blackberry phones. With the new development, it means Blackberry users are expected to upgrade to smartphone.

The message sent to all blackberry MTN subscribers reads

“Dear Customer, MTN Blackberry service will be decommissioned on 27/01/2017. Please upgrade to a smartphone and enjoy 100% bonus on any datab bundle purchased.”

The message suggests that subscribers will  still be able to use MTN internet with Blackberry but will only have to subscribe with smartphone code rather than Blackberry subscription.

Blackberry is going off Market

The message sent to all Blackberry users on MTN suggests that Blackberry is loosing most if not all their market in Nigeria. Nigerians have started migrating to other phones to have maximum benefit from their smartphones.

We hope that most of the current market shareholders such as Samsung, Infinix, Techno, Sony among others will keep on upgrading their service in order not to loss the market as Blackberry is going now.
